Testing FAQs
What test does Alverno accept?
Alverno gives preference to students who take the HSPT at Alverno. Our testing dates are December 5, 2009  and January 9, 2010 at 8:30 am. We also accept the ISEE. Our ISEE school number is 053378.

To take the test you can:

Submit your application in advance.
This consists of :
    The application page
    Parent self-recommendation
    Student self-recommendation
Application/test fee check of $75 made out to Alverno High School

Send it to the Alverno Admissions Office, 200 N. Michillinda Ave., Sierra Madre, CA 91024.

or:

Bring a completed application and a check (no cash, please!) for $75 to the test. Check-in will begin at 7:30 am.

Transcripts and recommendations will be sent by your school at the end of the marking period.

All applications must be complete by January 15, 2010.

Be sure to bring pencils and a pen! The test lasts approximately three hours.

What’s the difference between these tests?

The best way to find out is to go online and look at the ISEE and HSPT practice tests, or buy a prep book. The HSPT can be taken many times, but the ISEE can only be taken once in a six month period.

Will Alverno accept tests taken at other schools?

Yes. However preference is given to girls who test at Alverno, and girls who test elsewhere will be expected to attend a writing make-up session (date TBA) for which there may be a charge.
