Leadership

Alverno High school is a wonderful place where young women can develop and cultivate leadership skills which will advance them in their decision-making, both at school and in the world of which they are members.

Leadership skills are not only directed to students in government, but are integrated into the classrooms as well. During the summer months, incoming students have the opportunity to take part in a leadership class, for credit, that gives strategies to help them achieve their goals. These young women learn how to create a supportive environment for learning in public, setting goals, and holding themselves accountable. Topics include writing a bill, resolving conflicts, and using parliamentary procedure, all of which are put to use in our student government. The students also learn the importance of listening and using their communication skills.

Leadership at Alverno High School is not limited to that of workshops, but instead is integrated within the school’s philosophy throughout the year through programs such as:

  • Student Government
  • Christian Service
  • Leadership Activities
  • Leadership Assemblies
  • CADA – California Association of Directors of Activities (providing student leadership seminars and conferences)
